On August 6th 2018, Petre DAEA, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, met Mr. Daya GAMAGE, Minister of Primary Industries and Social Welfare of Sri Lanka. During the visit, the two ministers discussed the possibility of cooperation for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, especially in the vegetable sector and promotion of the import / export of agri-food products and agricultural machinery.
The Minister of Sri Lanka together with his delegation expressed interest in the import of wheat, corn and fertilizers from Romania. At the same time, he stated that there are investors in Sri Lanka who intend to come to Romania in order to establish trade relations.
In this respect, Minister Petre Daea showed his openness and support for a future collaboration, underlining the idea that Romania has good, high quality products with stable production and that goods can be supplied over a long period of time, which ensures trade security and stability.
The discussions revealed mutual interest in linking businessmen from Sri Lanka to those in Romania to make investments in processing vegetables, fruits, and importing spices. In the near future businessmen from Sri Lanka will come to Romania to discuss specifically with businessmen from our country.
